The creative process has evolved in the events world over the last year and it continues to be much more tentative than it ever has. It can be hard to be inspired during the pandemic world we are in, so here are a tips on how to keep those ideas flowing:
- Brainstorming Sessions – this is not a new concept, but we can’t stress how important it is to give brainstorming the time it needs. Especially if you are hosting these sessions virtually, it can take multiple virtual meetings to accomplish what we would typically take care of in one face-to-face meeting. One important rule is not to judge the ideas initially, keep the mood positive and allow the evaluation process to follow later on after all stakeholders and contributors have time to reflect with feedback.
- Create a Mind Map – Mind Maps can be a great visual to help you organize your goals, objectives and what your priorities are.
- Pause – One of the best ways to create new ideas is to stop trying and pause. Occupy your mind with something else and you may find that new ideas will present themselves to you. This is an often overlooked area of the creative process.
- Evaluate & Prioritize – Once you have taken the time to carefully work through the first three steps, organize your lists, ideas and mind map to determine which ones will actually work and align with your goals.
If this last year has taught us anything, it has been that nothing is set in stone. Keep your plan fluid and be prepared to “pivot” as needed.
