Multitasking was a big thing before covid, and with smaller or virtual events during covid, that has not changed one bit. Here are a few tips to help you stay organized while mulitasking.
- Prioritize – Prioritize the tasks on their importance and keep it short! 10-20 priorities are not really priorities. Also make another short sub-work-list of small things you can do, while waiting for one task to be approved for completed.
- Eliminate Distractions – We would typically consider distractions, things like social media or emails from other clients that pop up while working on a particular project. However, when working on virtual events, distractions can be as simple as an idea for the event that has nothing to do with the goal of the event. It’s a new world for many people and we can get easily distracted by something you heard someone else do. Stay in your lane and focus on only elements that help you reach your event goals.
- Motivation – If you don’t already know what motivates you, figure it out and ensure you allow time for this on a daily basis. If you are working on a fundraiser, this might be watching a video from the organization to remember your “why” or maybe you are motivated by a job well done and can be reminded by reviewing a letter of recommendation you received recently. Especially during these covid times where our connections are more difficult to hold onto, don’t forget to take a few minutes to pump your self up, even if you are alone and working from home!
