Junior Event Planner

Reports to: Lead Planner

Type: Permanent Part Time, 12-24 hours per week    

Salary: Commensurate with qualification and experience                     

Based in Abbotsford, Perfect Sense Events was founded by Patricia Driessen in 2009 after working with a variety of clientele in the hospitality industry. With a passion for event management and a commitment to bringing innovation and the latest trends to the Fraser Valley, we take events from concept to completion.

Position Summary

We are seeking an outgoing and organized individual for a long-term office position.  Their role will focus on executive support to the Lead Planner as well as managing a variety of operational and administrative issues relevant to the organization. The Junior Event Planner takes a supportive role in event planning and client relations and will co-ordinate various projects throughout the year.

 

Core responsibilities will include: 

Administrative Management

  • Provide administrative support to the Lead Planner
  • Assist with event committee meeting administration as required
  • Maintain efficient electronic and paper filing systems for the office

Event Coordination

  • Work alongside the Lead Planner on client events
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets for various events and projects
  • Coordinate mailings and communications with event stakeholders
  • Develop and steward sponsor and donor relationships as assigned
  • Liaise with event service providers, which may include menu planning, logistics coordination, décor implementation and/or event setup/tear downs

Marketing & Communications

  • Provide support with social media accounts
  • Develop content for newsletters and blogs
  • Draft press releases for media channels
  • Assist in creating multimedia presentations
  • Assist with design of event print materials


Qualifications:

  • Experience in an office setting with strong administrative skills
  • Ability to take personal initiative and work independently, as well as be a productive and supportive member of a team
  • Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Innovative and creative thinker
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience in event planning, marketing, public relations or relevant field an asset, but not required

Working Hours and Conditions:

This posting is for a permanent part-time (12-24 hours per week) position. Hours could be irregular at peak times.  Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Compensation:  Commensurate based on skill level and previous experience.
